More about Providence
In addition to our Sunday morning and evening worship services, we have the following ministries for encouraging the spiritual growth of believers and reaching the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ:
• Sunday School/Providence Institute: Bible teaching is provided on Sunday mornings in the following classes:
• Adults 19 years and up (oldest student is 90+)
• Youth 12-18 years
• Children 6-11 years
• Young children 3-5 years
• Nursery 2 years and younger
• Note: in recent years we have also taught classes during the week on child-training, evangelism, Christian worldview, and dealing with heart issues.
• Youth Meeting: The youth meet on Wednesday evenings throughout the school year. Scripture memory and service are emphasized.
• Shawn Manor Nursing Home: Each Friday evening a worship service is held at Shawn Manor for residents and family members. The service is primarily comprised of singing and expository teaching. Residents also enjoy interaction and fellowship with the families involved in this ministry and particularly enjoy their young children. This ministry has been in place for more than 26 years.
• American Legion Children’s Home: Ponca City is home to a boarding facility for sixty children ages 11-18 from difficult home situations. Since July 2008, Providence has held a Sunday afternoon church service at the Children’s Home, followed by an hour of recreation and relationship building with the children. An adjunct ministry has developed, and several church members also volunteer as tutors throughout the week.
• Friendship Feast: One evening per month church members assist in serving meals to the poor of Ponca City.
Missionaries we support directly:
• Missionary in China
• Reformed University Fellowship, Belmont University
• Church planting, Ukraine
• TEAM missionary in Afghanistan
• Cooperative Program mission support through the International Mission Board with direct relationships with several missionaries.

Providence Baptist Church Demographics
Providence Baptist Church is made up of about 80 members/attendees from 20 family units, with about 50-60 attending on an average Sunday morning. The three largest demographic groups are older adults (60+), parents in the 40-55 year age group, and school-age children.
We have children ranging from one year old to high school, with a mixture of home school, private and public school education. During summer months, we have a few college students. We do not have many members in the 21-39 year range.
The church has fluctuated in size from 80-125 during its existence, somewhat mirroring fluctuations in the population of Ponca City as a whole. While two people are the only remaining charter members of the church still attending, several members have attended the church for 30 years or more.
